Tom Lorance was a fighter pilot in World War II at the ripe old age of nineteen. A soft spoken man, he had a backbone of steel that helped him survive eighteen months of escorting bombers over Germany. Tom retired in 1992 and died seven years later.
Larry Thompson was Tom’s wife’s first cousin (Larry can explain the family tree if that’s confusing). Upon graduating from the University Of Texas School Of Law, Larry asked Tom whether there were already too many lawyers in Houston. Tom’s reply was, “You’re right. Houston has a lot of lawyers, but not that many good ones.”
Tom and Larry formed their partnership in 1970. At first they made their living trying auto and workers compensation cases. As their reputation grew, so did the firm, expanding its client base to include commercial litigation, products liability, health care law, medical malpractice defense, employment, transportation (including cargo and customs capability), construction (including defense of architects and engineers), insurance (coverage opinions and litigation), other professional liability (insurance agents, real estate agents, accountants, officers and directors, and lawyers), copyrights, trademarks and intellectual property litigation, pharmaceutical defense, premises liability, toxic tort & environmental litigation defense and automotive defense. And, even though they are outnumbered by our trial lawyers, our corporate lawyers would be upset if our website didn’t also tout our firm’s ability to provide businesses and corporations with advice, counsel and representation.
